Job Description:

In this position of Passenger Car Cleaner, your duties will be focused on keeping the rail passengers’ cars clean and comfortable for passengers using the services of VIA Rail. These will involve cleaning tasks within the rooms as well as outside cleaning to make sure all UE travelers get a clean environment. From cleaning seats and other zones where passengers may sit, and the restroom areas to washing windows and the exterior of facilities, your efforts are used to improve the travelers’ comfort. This position is crucial in ensuring the implementation of safety precaution measures and hygiene, especially as it impacts a VIA Rail approach to passenger satisfaction. Roles and Responsibilities:

The cleaning role involves both interior and exterior tasks to ensure a pristine environment. Interior cleaning duties include vacuuming and washing carpets, wiping tables and chairs, cleaning washrooms, adjusting and sanitizing seats, and washing interior windows. Exterior cleaning focuses on washing exterior windows to maintain a polished appearance. Additionally, maintenance tasks involve draining and refilling potable water reservoirs and managing wastewater retention reservoirs. Please note that this role requires outdoor work in various weather conditions, adding a dynamic element to the position.

Job Requirements:

• High School Diploma.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Physical ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
• Flexibility for shift work (nights, evenings, days, weekends, holidays).
• Strong focus on quality and results.
• Team-oriented mindset.
• Mechanical aptitude (trade experience is an asset).

• Type: Permanent, full-time position.
• Shifts: Varied; based on seniority.
• Hourly Rate: $32.39 per hour.
• Shift Differentials:
  • Evening shift: $1.50/hour.
  • Night shift: $2.00/hour.
